Rocks n Roots

Rocks n Roots are cyanotypes made from photographs taken from 2021-2025 that began as a project to try and reconnect to my past, and cope with no longer having the comfortability or security of “home” after living in NYC for four years without the mountains at my fingertips. I realized over time the project turned into a love letter to Western North Carolina and to my two muses, who are the two longest friendships I’ve had in life.

After revisiting the images so often, I also noticed a thread on the physical change of the environment: the rivers drying up over time, exposing rocks and roots that were hidden under the water throughout my childhood.

The prints are 16x20” cyanotypes made from digitized 120mm film printed on cold-press watercolor paper toned with green tea (hence the yellow staining of the paper).
